Of course I didn't document the trip. When do I ever do that? I remembered to snap some pics on car ride home though.
In keeping with the food theme of the trip, we finished it up with donuts on the way home. (Despite the fact that Texas has a donut shop on practically every other corner, we don't eat them very often.)
And here's a kolache for those of you who have never had one before. I had never even heard of these before I moved to Texas. You can get them with fruit or meat inside - Dave loves the cheese & sausage ones. They're not a favorite of mine, but I'll eat one every once in a while.
B in a donut stupor. By this time, he had already had almost three donuts and one kolache. He fell asleep not long after this pic was taken.
We went through a lot of tiny towns on the way back. This sign actually rendered us speechless. We started laughing a minute after we drove past it, so we had to turn around and take a picture. If that sign is true, those people are talented!
B & I went to a museum to keep ourselves entertained while Dave was busy. This was the only good shot I got of him the whole time. Have I mentioned he has started running? It's amazing that I get any pictures of him at all.
(Steph, this was the same museum we went to with you guys. The one where you can "dig" up dinosaur bones in the sand. Didn't Dean pee in the sand or something? I can't remember. :) )
Dave's brother William and his wife Rebecca (the two on the left) came to visit us over Labor Day weekend. And a few weeks before that, Dave's cousin Ben and his wife Kaylene (sorry if I misspelled that!) moved in (literally) right across from our place.(They're on the right.) It's a party!
A pic of all of us, except Lorraine & Jack. (Lo was taking the picture.)
I had to throw this picture in here because it looks like B is about to pummel me on the head. He didn't end up hitting me - I think he was trying to get down. It made for a fun picture, though.
What "hiding" means to an 18 month old. His other favorite place is behind our shower curtain. It's cute now, but I can see it turning not cute in the future. Like when we are out in public. He will stay quiet for a long time, too!
He thinks he's hilarious!
I planted him in front of this one day, and he stayed put for 25 minutes! I cleaned the whole kitchen while he was coloring and eating pretzels. I wish I would have known this a long time ago.
He is saying so many words now. I have been waiting to hear him talk ever since he was born! It's always fun to hear what their little voice sounds like. A few of my favorites are "nac",(snack)"pees", (please) and "tash" (trash - although he says this sometimes as he is throwing food off his tray onto our carpeted floor. Not cool OR cute then.) My all time favorite word of his (and first phrase) is "tay oo, mommy". (Thank you, mommy) He even uses it at the right times and says "tay oo, daddy", too. How cute is that?

chels! bentley is SO cute! i love looking at all your pictures of him! no worries...food seems to be the highlight of many of our trips too! we just went home to vancouver last week and compared to rexburg we were in restaurant heaven!
Rad post. Yeah, we are still waiting for Sophie to put some words together. She understands everything we say, but we can't get her to repeat stuff. I can say, Sophie, get your milk out of the fridge, shut the door and put this in the trash and she does it, but if I ask her to say two words, she runs off to do other things. She has started to mommy and daddy in stead of momma. Love that. It is so fun when they talk, unless you are in a car and it is mommy 40 times in a row. B man is a stud too!
You are a genius! How did you think of taping a paper sack to the table? You and the boys are so cute!
Fun pics! I hope Dallas was fun and the pool wasn't too cold. Brrrrrrr. B is getting so old and I adore those blue eyes of his (don't tell Eli I said that. His are brown and I don't want him to be offended, you know.).
Oh, and I would like to point out that my "word verification code" is lmsydvfsptxz. Ummm, let's try to use the whole alphabet, why don't we.
I LOVE cheese & sausage kolaches. That sounds really good right now actually....
I can't believe that Bentley will hide quietly - yeah, that wouldn't be so great in public. What a fun talker! I'm impressed that he's putting the words together. And I'm impressed with the paper bag too - I'll have to try that with Adam.
Chels, is that really your long, manicured nail in the kolaches picture? Jeez, nice.
Yeah right, I don't get my nails done. I wish. Those are my real nails. I'm glad you think they look manicured!!
I love the dove hunter sign. I'll have to tell you a story someday about a one-armed parking attendant in Oklahoma City.
Wow what an awesome talker! Ella says,"Hi Dad!" and that's about it! I'm glad you guys had a good trip. I'm jealous that there is a donut store on almost every corner...here you have to get donuts at safeway or Albertson's (krispy Kreme just came back, it went out of buisness for awhile) but sometimes I just want a regular yummy donut. That sign was funny. Great pictures Chelsea!
These are so cute. I love to see pictures of y'all's(am I am Texan or what?) cute little family.
Mindi :)
I have no idea what a kolache is, but if that's where we end up for school I guess I'll try it out... you will have to fill me in on Texas since I only lived there a few weeks.
