Last night for our date night, (although I don't think it's really a date night if you have your kid with you) we went out to eat and then watched the Olympics while we played Canasta. Going "out to eat" was (and I hesitate posting this, at the risk of sounding white trash) hot dogs, drinks, pretzels & a bag of peanuts from 7-11. (Yes, the convenience store. The greatest one ever, by the way.) All for only $7. Don't knock it until you try it. Dave actually got me to like "gas station dogs" while we were dating. We have some fond memories of Maverick stations in Rexburg. (And Horkley's! A gas station & a video store in one. Good times...)

Was it just me, or were the opening ceremonies last night amazing?? Very awe inspiring, especially the drums at the very beginning. I know there are some political issues going on with China and everybody, and I'm not going to pretend to know anything about it, but you have to admire their precision & culture after watching that.

Oh yeah - finished Breaking Dawn. Although I though it was the best book in the series so far, it wasn't my fav book ever. I'm pretty hot & cold about it. I'm glad I read it, but relieved it is finally over. I won't be reading those books again for a loooonnngg time. I am, however, re-reading the Harry Potter books. I don't know how, but they are even better the second time around.

Sorry about the lack of pictures in this post. We haven't really gone anywhere this summer, (thank you law school) so I don't have any interesting pictures. I'll work on some for my next post.

Speaking of pictures, my cousin Sara just had a baby and he is SO cute. I expect a new post from you very soon, Sar. When you are up to it, of course. But don't leave me hanging for long. I want to see how he's changed so far! Come see us soon so we can hang out with you guys. (Let's be honest - I just want to see Saylor! Sorry, but now that you've had a kid, people will be more interested to see your kids more than you. That's just the way parenthood is. You'll learn. But we like you guys, too...)

Horkleys!!! Aw, the memories. Devin and I practically lived there when I was pregnant. We had our giant Madison Memorial (Rexburg Hospital, for those who don't know) drinking cups that we found at D.I. and they would always let us fill them for 50 cents. Nice!! Also, funny memory (but not as funny as the Dollar Store pooper, I was thinking about her yesterday): when I was at the end of my pregnancy the owner of Horkleys saw us walking out with out drink and asked me if I was trying to shoplift as he pointed to my round loot beneath my coat. LOL - He was kidding but the people next to us thought he was serious and that I was busted. "Okay, punks! The loot is my unborn baby. Back off!"

Good times.

P.S. (as if that wasn't long enough) I also like the opening last night. Wonderful - except for when the guy starting falling behind the scroll while flying. he should've caught up because it didn't look like he was helping anymore.

Okay, I'm shutting up now.

(But seriously, tell me you still remember Dollar Store poop lady?)

Wow. I should proof-read before sending next time. That's what I get for rambling. I made a lot of typos. I would edit my mistakes, but I'm gonna let you work it out. For fun. And 'cause I'm lazy.

Good luck.

OHHH Good ol Rexburg and Horkleys. Who didn't get penny candy there? I am making my way through breaking dawn also and I have mixed feelings. I am enjoying it, but I don't know how to explain it! Ok I keeping thinking about when Mark moved my car!! hahah I had totally forgotten about that. I had so much fun that day!

I've always enjoyed a good hot dog from the convenience store. I love hot dogs and I always say to Tim, "there is always somewhere to go if you want a burger--but very few place you can go for a hot dog." I bet it was yummy! I enjoyed to opening ceremony also...well, I fell asleep for a good part of it...(all the meds I was on after surgery) But they really did a great job...I totally agree :)
