Date Night

Dave got a new bike. I liked the color when he first showed me a picture of it, but that was about it.
Until I got on it. And I actually liked it. I can see now how boys think these things are fun. It felt a little Top-Gun-ish. And Lubbock looks like a completely different city from the back of a bike, believe it or not.
We went to go see the new Batman movie. I do not reccomend it to anyone. It was too dark and disturbing for me. Heath Ledger did an AMAZING job, but ironically, he was the reason I didn't like it. Another thing that bothered me? People brought their children to this movie. Children six and under. Really? It scared me, and I'm 27 years old! I think this movie should have been rated R. Okay, I'm done with my rant.
Moral of the story: Don't see Dark Knight, and everyone should ride a bike at least once in their lives. For the thrill of it.
**I should probably point out that I don't even like watching CSI because it is too violent for me. And the plot of Dark Night was good; I just didn't like how people were actually laughing as the Joker was killing people. It made me sick to my stomach and I considered walking out a few times. I was bothered that children were watching the movie - no wonder we have so many problems in our society if they are exposed to this at four years old!! Man, I am getting passionate just writing this. I'm done now. I promise this time. :)

Wow, you really didn't like it? You're the first person I've heard who didn't love it. I still want to see it because I sort of have a crush on Christian Bale. :)

I can't believe you really didn't like it that much. I thought it was good...Heath's death DEFINITELY attributed to the creepy factor.
PS. Bikes are totally fun! A little scary b/c (let's face it) guys are sometimes irresponsible when they are showing off. But remember Matt & Kate on the bike in How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days. Hello....hot!

I actually somewhat agree with you on the Dark Knight. I went
Carrie stayed home, the previews were too much for her.

It sounds strange to say that it's almost because it's so well done and and such a good movie is the reason I'm not as big of a fan. I blogged about it myself, but I totaly get where you are coming from on this one.

First of all FUN! I love how you guys got to ride around on a bike for date night! That would make me feel young again...well, younger :)
I SO HEAR YA! (about DARK movies)...I seriously can't handle a DARK movie (I couldn't even handle "I am Legend" I walked out, I made Tim come with me). I would be disturbed that parents took young kids also... I heard it's for much older kids. You made me laugh when you said you weren't a fan of CSI-- I always make Tim turn the channel...I can't handle that too :) well, at least I know who I can go enjoy a good movie with...too bad we live so far apart! :)

Hey, you know how I feel about it after talking to you. Heath = he'll win something for that. Story and characters = VERY acurate according to my comic book-worshiper husband. Feel of the movie = yes, I agree. Very dark. But I guess that's how the real Batman stories are supposed to be.

But everyone has different things they can handle. Some of your recommended books are too much for me.....espcially having to do with child abuse/neglect. Those make me sick to my stomach. But you know I'll keep asking for good books! love ya!

I have only seen previews and I guarantee that I will be terrified of Heath's character. I actually have no desire to see it and that TOTALLY ticks me off that people would take young children to see it. I would have said something. Out loud. So they could hear me and would feel stupid. I'm rude like that when it comes to those situations. That makes me as mad as when I hear about parents who think it's funny to teach their toddlers the F word and whatnot. People should have to pass a test to be parents. Sheesh.

Okay, done with my rant too. Just wanted you to know I agree and I haven't even seen it yet. :o)

Oh, and I wanted to say also that anyone I have known who has seen it has said the same thing about not liking it because it was too dark.

And...I love CSI. Haha. Go figure. :o)

Remember Ghost Ship?? THAT was the scariest movie I have EVER seen. Now THAT was dark. And that music...
whoa.

A date? What is that?! So glad that you got to go out, and on the bike too! And...I haven't even seen the previews and already know that I can't see the movie. Guess we can go see movies together!

Derek and I loved the movie!!! I was prepared to hate it and didn't really want to go see it. I thought it would be too dark and evil, but I surprised myself and really liked it. I agree that I wouldn't let my kids see it. Maybe Ashton--we'll see. Sorry you didn't like it.

I know Chris already posted, but I can't watch CSI either - I can't forget scary stuff very easily. I would totally be upset about it too - it's easy for me to get worked up about how children are being raised these days :).

I had a hard time with the violence too. I don't know how it didn't get an R rating. It was also way too long. They seriously could have made that into 2 separate movies. Gotta love Christian Bale though! Nice eye candy :)

I think you're dead on. I haven't seen the new Batman, and I don't want to. I don't do dark movies since I have the overactive imagination of a 5 year old. I worked at a movie theater in high school and it drove me nuts to see parents taking their little kids (or any kids, frankly) to these awful movies. It took every ounce of willpower not to tell them off, which I think I may have a couple of times now that I think of it..... Darn selfish parents! Get a babysitter!!

And I would love to have a bike like that someday. I told Jeremy that if we get old and our kids are out of the house and he dies that I'm getting one of those bikes and it will be my sole method of transportation. It will probably lead to my grandmotherly demise, but at least I'll have fun in the meantime! :)

Okay, I must admit, I thought the movie was great! eek! Yes, very dark. But from a creative standpoint, the acting, the cinematography, etc., was fantastic. Heath did a great job, but I agree with some of the comments on here that his death makes it very chilling and creepy. Cliff has gotten me into comic book movies (he is a HUGE comic book fan, particularly Superman). And fun that you went on Dave's bike. Cliff would LOVE a bike.

I'm seeing it with Christie Monday (after I turn in my last paper)I know it's going to be scary, I'm probably going to be sorry, but I'm justifying my actions by saying that it's batman and I promised Christie (and I really want to see it.)
