I am not a morning person.

I think that is the reason why Heavenly Father sent me a child who sleeps in anywhere from 7:15-8:00. He was such a good sleeper, from about three months on. Until now. These past few days B has been waking up between 6:15-6:45. I don't understand. He used to be so nice to me. Now he brings me ALL his books while I am still in bed, trying to pretend sleep while he is yelling at me and chucking his books at my head.

And while I love that he is at that stage where he loves books, (and will actually sit still & listen) there is something about reading the same 6-7 books over and over and over again. He will sit and read books with you for hours, if you have the patience for toddler books, with few words. (All you mothers out there know what I mean!) I've learned if you leave a child up to their own (bored) devices, they will do somthing cute like this:

He's reading 'There's a Wocket in my Pocket!' That's one of the fun books to read. And his carseat is int he house because we had to fit a kiddy pool in our car. THAT was a fun time.

Here's a fun video to start your day off with.

(If you were wondering what happened at the end, he knocked the camera out of my hands.)

I almost feel sorry for but then I remember how Charlie has been getting up at 5:30 since we got to DC. You would think that the time change would work in our favor but no so much.

I do feel sorry for you. I would cry - I'm definitely not a morning person either! Truthfully, I have been feeling sorry for myself because Dean used to sleep until 8:30-9:00am (I know, right?) and now he is up at 7am everyday. Luckily, he plays by himself in his toy room for the first while and then comes and gets me up around 7:30-7:45am, but still, that seems SO early after being spoiled for so long. You make me realize that I still have it easy. :o) Hang in there and hopefully it's just a phase (I doubt it). LOL

love the self portrait.
Booo to having to wake up so early.
it really is hard to be nice when you don't get enough sleep.
...but look how cute he is!

come visit us. soon.

ps. Oh man! I have the best news for you ever (well...maybe not ever). A lady in my ward gave me 5 boxes of books to take to my students. After about 10 minutes of allowing the kids to rummage through the books one of my students brought over a DVD and told me that her mom would probably think it was inappropriate for her. The DVD? Laguna Beach. First season. I almost watched it...but I'm waiting to watch it with you (there's something less shameful in numbers). So really...when are you coming to visit. So. Cal is great this time of year! Has B ever been to a real beach? I think he'd love it.

wow.
this is the longest comment ever!

oh brother.
that last comment was from me.
I was accidentally signed in as my mom.
I've done that like three times.
You'd think I'd have learned my lesson by now.
It's always so embarrassing.
sorry.

That's great that he loves books...I haven't read to Ella like I have the others at this age. I need to. I love that he throws the books at your head...whatever he needs to do to get your attention :)

It's time to get, (if you don't have them yet) the following board books that you can love too:

The Pigeon has feelings too by Mo Willems

The Pigeon likes things that go by Mo Willems

Anything by Olivier Dunrea . . . like BooBoo.

and, my new favorite, Moo, Baa, Lalala by Sandra Boynton

Good luck with the 6am thing. I have nother to help you with that.

It gets even better when you have more than 1 child and they don't coordinate their sleeping schedules;) Hopefully Bentley's early waking up is just a phase. Sometimes it happens when the days get longer in the summer. You can try making the room darker. My sister-in-law just hangs a dark blanket over the window. I'm not the best person to ask though since right now I have the opposite problem. My boys, especially Gavin stay up way too late! He's been known to stay up past 11 PM!
