My goal

These are all the books I want to read in the next month or two. You know when you go to the library for one book and end up coming home with four, only to come home and find out you already have two sitting on your bedstand you haven't read yet? Then you go to Goodwill and pick up three for $4.50? Then you come home and realize what you have got yourself into? That is my life right now. And I will do it. You'll see.

Here they are individually:

The Testament, by John Grisham. I've read about 7 or 8 of his books in the last year, and I am addicted. I keep finding ones I haven't read yet. This one was a goodwill buy for fifty cents.

Modoc, The True Sotry of the Greatest Elephant That Ever Lived, by Ralph Helfer. Sarah, GREAT recomend. I love it so far. If anyone out there is an animal lover of any kind, you will love this book. And he WAS the greatest elephant that ever lived. So far, at least. I'm not done with it yet. (I'm trying to type this fast so I can get back to reading it.)

Their Eyes were Watching God, by Nora Neale Hurston. One of those books you always hear about, but never find it. I found it at the library the other night. I think it was, at one time, an Oprah book club book.

The Time Traveler's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger. Again, a book that I always hear about and have wanted to read, and I actually found it last night.

Zipporah, wife of Moses, by Marek Halter. This is actually book two in the Canaan Trilogy. The first one is Sarah, and I really liked it. This guy is not LDS, (and it shows in his writing - he's a little riske') but I really enjoy reading fictional books based on bible characters.

Lilah, by Mark Halter. Third book of the Canaan Trilogy. Orson Scott Card also writes books like these about Sarah, Rebecca and Rachel. I liked them so much I own them. I recommend them for anyone that likes these kinds of books.

Before You Know Kindness, by Chris Bohjalan. Don't know anything about his book except that the description sounded good, and it was $2 at Goodwill.

The Man Who Listens to Horeses, by Monty Roberts. Again, a book I don't know anything about, but it has horses in the title. That is enough to sell me. And it was $2, as well.

Abundance, by Sena Jeter Naslund. A novel about Marie Antoinette, only it is told in a fiction-like voice about the re-creation of her life, in the eyes of the author. I don't know why, but Marie Antoinette's life really intrigues me.

I have to go read Modoc now.

Chels, I think you have a husband who is possibly:

-done taking a test and has time to spare

-or sick of studying and needs to take a break

-or likes to make little, sweet and sometimes wierd messages to his wife

-or is just bored and has nothing else to do

No matter, I love ya Dave & you and my sister match each other perfectly!

(Oh yeah, cool books....don't know if they ALL interest me, but I'll have to check up on you to see which ones were worth reading)

I read "Their Eyes" in high school and again at the Y, and I'm pretty sure I even wrote a pretty sweet paper about it. I hope you like it.

And speaking of Marie Antoinette, did you see the Kirsten Dunst movie about her? Just wondering what you thought about that...

Mary, yes I did see that movie. It was horrible, in my opinion. I usually like Kirsten Dunst's movies, but that one was awful. It was so inadequate in explaining her life that it made me want to do my own research on her life. Plus, there was practically no dialouge! It really bugged me.

Oh man. It's only been a day or two since I've checked your blog...and BAMM! I'm like seven posts behind. I guess you're back in the blogging business. Welcome back, friend. I missed you.

PS. I think you're crazy with all those books. My recommendation...one book at a time. Or you could just come to Vegas & sit by the pool with me. But I'm afraid if you did that we'd just end up reading stupid magazines like US Weekly, People & InStyle. Is it possible to read anything else when laying out?

I always do that, too! And then I realize that I have to go to work instead of staying at home and reading books all day. Lucky you! Let us know if any of them are worth checking out.

Good Luck on the book thing! I'm glad if I can get through just one in like 3 months...I guess I just need to find books I just can't put down a good "EASY READ" :)
