Our latest project

The Jacksons have been working harder than you all think since we have moved to Lubbock. To give you guys an idea we have taken a few pictures. Keep in mind that Chelsea Marie Bennett Jackson can be held solely responsible for all cute ideas that have gone into this project. Some, but not all, of these ideas include color schemes, restoring the hardwood floors, the knobs on the cabinets in the kitchen and all 2 outside light fixtures. Although we did practically all the remodeling ourselves, (with our bare hands) we left the tiling job to our recently Americanized-Latino friends we met at Home Depot. Turns out they sell more than just the supplies there. They actually do believe in their slogan. "You can do it; We can help." (and if we cannot, we have a crew waiting for you out front that would love to pick up where we left off)

We will start our tour with the outside of our new "cubed" house. All we did was take the ramp off because we choose to not make this location handicapped accessible. We did add the car and painted the grass a bit greener.

The living room includes new carpet and the addition of a beautiful Wal-mart ceiling fan. Check out all those windows. We only had to replace 3panes of glass.

As we move to bedroom number one you will see a nicely

wallpapered room that anyone born before 1961 might well recognize. When we ripped out the wallpaper we found a glorious room that resembled a log cabin. The walls were completely wood. We chose to drywall the entire room. (Great time) give it new texture and a new ceiling with a complementary fan. Knob and tooth wiring is another advantage the pre-1955 era. Scary! It is amazing what you can find hiding under a nasty looking layer of carpet.

Bedroom 2 just needed a quick splash of paint and we were out the door. The hardwood floors in this room contained multiple water stains on the wood and turned out to need the most sanding. We aren't sure if the old lady's cat could not find the litter box a few times or if they were just vodka tonic slip ups. Dave restored 800 sq ft of hardwoods by himself in 2 days. (then he was on bed rest for the following 3 days)

The hall really turned out cute with the phone stand we all know and love as well as a new light fixture. Man those floors look good.

Dining in this gorgeous room has turn into quite a pleasure. Can you believe how well we got those old floors to shine. We replace all the electrical sockets and plates and added a ground to

each outlet throughout the entire house. Up to code baby! Only one incidence of mistaken shocking syndrome.

The kitchen was ready to make even the calmest stomachs lose their lunch. We put in new tile on the floor, counters, and back splash. We replaced the sink and faucet. We rerouted the washer and dryer hookups so those hideous pipes were not just

shooting out of the floor. Chels replaced all the knobs as previously stated, and we treated those unbelievably poor tasting walls with a new white wainscoting. Clean and sharp is the direction we were going for and we think we got it.

The bathroom was updated before we could get a hold of it. As you can see, the walk in shower sells itself. All we had to do was a bit of electrical and vent the water heater so it would be updated to new building codes. We heard that really cuts down on liability insurance premiums. We decided to wrap things up this weekend so the happy 22 year old living together college student couple that replied to our ad in the paper and past our background and credit check could begin hanging their own pictures on the wall, mowing the yard, and paying the utilities. You know all the things in life that make it so much fun to live.

The church is true and school starts in 3 weeks. We are excited and in love. We believe college life will treat us well and prepare us to conquer the world. (or something like that)

Of yeah, how could we post with out a nice big picture of Bentley, the second love of my life.
